TITLE: Vision Teacher
REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree or higher with PEL and Teacher of Visually
Impaired endorsement
EVALUATIONS: Conducted on an annual basis in accordance with KASEC
guidelines
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Length of employment, salary and benefits determined
by the Board of Directors of KASEC
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Skills:
- Develop Individual Educational Programs for students with varying vision impairments.
- Develop long and short term learning goals and benchmarks according to program guidelines and the IEP.
- Conduct activities reflecting IEP goals and benchmarks.
- Prepare, adapt, and provide instruction for students with vision impairments.
- Adapt curricula and use evidence based teaching practices based on student needs.
- Use technology to support student’s low vision needs in the classroom setting.
- Establish an instructional pace consistent with students' learning process.
- Monitor student performance and progress, adjusting instruction as necessary.
- Compile and maintain necessary records and progress notes.
- Participate as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain orderliness and safety of instructional areas.
- Maintain appropriate communication with parents.
